I’d like to share with you something that concerns me when it comes to making Handmade Soap. I dont want to sound like I’m preaching, but would like to bring your attention to the use of Palm Oil, so you can make your own decision about supporting this cause.
Every little bit helps!
Many Soap Makers use Palm Oil in their Handmade Soaps, and while many advertise they only use sustainable Palm Oil, and possible they do, I feel if it’s not used at all, then the decision is an easy one to make when purchasing any product (Handmade or not). While Palm Oil isn’t detrimental to the soap itself, it is detrimental to the animals of South East Asia that depend on the rain forest for their lives.
Many products on the shelves of our supermarkets contain Palm Oil, so I have included a link below where you can check out how to find Palm Oil free product on our shelves. There are many alternatives.
To produce Palm Oil over three hundred football fields of rain forest are destroyed EVERY HOUR in South East Asia.
Over 50 Orangutans a week die because of this devastation.
Indonesia has the second highest rate of deforestation in the world. Sumatran Tiger and Sumatran Elephant populations are also endangered.
